Depressed - Reading: Desert Solitaire
Reading Edward Abbey's Desert Solitaire is one of the things required by my Necessity of Wilderness class here at Nebraska Wesleyan. This book is incredibily entertaining, often humorous and Abbey has no problems with bashing those he has problems with in an incredibly witty way. However, he can also be damn depressing at times with his whole "This is a beautiful canyon unlike any other, unique, and fucking awesome... too bad those capitalist pigs built a dam and now it has been submerged and buried with silt." I'm like, "FUCK, I wanted to see those things!"
It doesn't help that for the past two hours I've been reading in my dorm's basement. Which is about as sterile and utilitarian as it gets, nothing but right angles and flintstone furniture and a stupid plastic plant in the corner. I want to get out and see the desert! I want to go back to Boundary Waters and canoe the Louse River again! I want to lay on my back at night and actually be able to see stars! I'm dying in here! Screw the internet, I'm going for a walk. *leaves*
